Lazy Sunday
Through soft lighting, intimate ambiences and a series of ambivalent gazes, these photographs explore alternative expressions of masculinity. In these images, the male figure is presented half-dressed, a metaphoric visual strategy for peeling back layers of hardened emotions and embracing vulnerable states of being. The physical curves of these bodies and the flexible poses they enact also subvert notions of masculine rigidity and gender-based gestural performance. By alternating their gazes away and toward the viewer, these figures dare you to look at them while remaining indifferent as to whether they fulfill societal expectations of self-presentation.
